So, full confession time... thinking about my most recent review of IF I COULD FLY...
"I liked If I Could Fly better than the first book in the Being Me series, Is This Me? because I could relate to Amanda's situation. Actually, I think that almost any woman who has lived through the "new adult" stage can empathize with Amanda's situation." -OnMyKindle1 http://www.onmykindle.net/2017/02/if-i-could-fly.html
I remembered back to the event that inspired the book, the week I almost, yes almost, took the escape hatch. I was in love with an older guy who'd just graduated and moved across the country. The first week I cried and the second, I plotted my getaway . At nineteen, with a decent sized bank account, I could've followed him. But I didn't.
How would my life be different, I've often wondered. At nineteen, a short vacation from college shouldn't have affected my life that much, right? But I'd never been a risk taker, and I'm still not.
In Drops of Sunshine, I repeated this theme without realizing it. Reading Drops of Sunshine's most recent review, made it all too clear.
"Drops of Sunshine by Tricia Copeland: I appreciate the subject matter this author chose to write about for this story. I haven’t read a lot of stories featuring disabled children and I thought it was smart the way the author wove in the mind-reading with the children as well as Nina learning how to let people in (“Needing others didn’t make me weak”)." -Amazon reviewer
In an effort to flee her family drama, Nina took a summer job as a camp counselor. All she wanted was to hide.
Can you relate? Did you take the escape hatch? Part of me wishes I was brave enough to.
