Remember back in February when Christy Hires of Superior Earth Essentials and I brought you essential oil scents CALM and FOCUS to help you weather your work and school life? Now we’ve paired up again to help you have the summer travel experience yet with BE WELL and SWEET DREAMS! Boost your immune system and get your best sleep yet with these custom blends!
In Kingdom of Darkness, Camille and her friend Jude, get a crash course in brewing up potions. I have an excerpt from the book for you below, as well as a scents giveaway, but for now welcome Christy back to tell you how she blended SWEET DREAMS and BE WELL to help you stay in tip top shape over the summer!
From Christy...Scent and memory. Brain and body. They are all connected. The project of connecting the Kingdom Journals book to a scent experience has been one of my most favorite projects to date. I love being able to help others incorporate their sense of smell into their creative thoughts and ideas. When I step into my blending room, I find myself transported to a place of possibilities. The scents at my fingertips and the quiet of my space send a surge of excitement through me! As I follow Camille and Jude into their blending room I picture my own little chemistry lab. I can smell their blend of red mandarin, cypress, myrtle, bergamot and cornmint. This blend will help promote sleep during any month of the year but especially summertime as we experience a change in our sleep patterns due to anything from traveling & activities to the longer days & changing weather.
Christy and I welcome you to read all about the red mandarin, cypress, myrtle, bergamot, and cornmint in SWEET DREAMS and find the scents here! You can scroll down to read an excerpt from Kingdom of Darkness!
Now for your excerpt! I've chosen a passage where Camille and her maybe friend, maybe enemy, we're not sure yet, Jude, are learning to mix potions! Yes, witch training 101!
The test for the second stage of coven training resembled the first, and both Jude and I passed to the third level, represented by water. The study portion centered on chemistries, potions, and essential oils, much of which would be taught by Maria. I blamed my worn look on nightmares, so the first day she led us through concocting a sleep remedy. She mixed essential oils of Red Mandarin, Bergamot, Cornmint, Cypress, and Myrtle, and I sniffed the fluid.
“Do you feel more relaxed?” Maria asked.
“I just feel bored,” Jude exclaimed, sighing.
“This is often the most trying section for those that favor activity.”
“Well, I’m falling asleep just thinking about blending oils.”
“Here.” She handed him another mixture.
He held it to his nose. “Hmm, smells like some flower.”
“Geranium. It’s arsenic.”
“Oh, God.” He held the bottle at arms-length.
“You let him smell arsenic?” I blurted out before I could check my reaction.
Maria laughed. “He is paying attention now.”
“That woke me up.” Jude paced away from the table and back.
Seemingly for Jude’s benefit, she switched to teaching poisons and their smells and effects. I took notes as she went, hoping I didn’t mix up the Tabun that smelled like almonds, the Soman that smelled like rotting fruit, and Cyclosarin that had a peachy odor.
Find out all about Kingdom of Darkness! Happy Reading!
My new paranormal novel released yesterday, and I have to say I'm so excited by the reception! Releases are always stressful wondering if everything will go smooth and praying there aren't any glitches. Knock on wood, the few bumps have been very minor. Every release I've learned something new and this was my first pre-order release, so I'm evaluating the benefits of that experience. Overall, this may have been my best release yet!
I wanted to compile all my social media, initial reviews, and images in one place for you guys to wrap your brain around everything that is Kingdom of Darkness! Between my YouTube videos, Goodreads reviews, Pinterest boards, Instagram, and my website I try to paint a picture of what you can expect from my books. Like my other novels, this story takes on a life on of its own and when I immerse myself in it, I fall in love again and again.
In Kingdom of Darkness, the story teller, Camille, is a semi-regular teen. She has moved a lot and that is a challenge but she has solid relationships with her mother and brother. Enter her nightmares about a witch-vampire hybrid teen and her new witch boyfriend (remember Kingdom of Embers) which become hallucinations she can't stop. Camille pours herself into figuring out what's going on, leading her to enroll in a month long camping experience. There she meets Jude, a fellow schizophrenic, who resembles the evil vampire-witch hybrid guy from her dreams. She is immediately drawn to him, but can she trust him? Is the camp an elaborate hoax to capture her? You'll only find out by reading Kingdom of Darkness!
And the biggest news... I've extended my release promotion to allow everyone to take advantage of my sale! Kingdom or Darkness is only $0.99 through Friday, June 23! Check out reviews, Pinterest boards samples, Instagram teasers, and the YouTube trailer below! Follow me to stay up on all the latest images and videos!
The best part about my new release (besides my daughter saying my cover was beautiful and a review calling KofD "edgy" and "cool"- I've never been edgy and cool before) is that the sequel is only 3 months away! It's already written and edited! Who will star in the next Kingdom Journal? Find out Sept. 21!
All the best,
