Most girls dream of being princesses, but one princess just wants to be a normal girl.
Ella Carina, crown princess of Aelawyn, knows brutality and lies—she’s seen the way her father rules. Princess. Possession. To her father, the words had the same meaning. She was only as valuable as the alliance formed with her betrothal. Her freedom comes from an unlikely place: an attack on the castle.
When the conquering King offers to protect her from the betrothal her father arranged for political gain, she consents. Hiding her within a peasant family is the only way to keep her and her secret safe.
In this simpler life, Ella flourishes and catches the eye of the local Blacksmith’s son. For once, she can be herself and make her own choices, but the life of a princess—even one kept secret—was never meant to be easy.
Trevor, crown prince of Galder has been searching for Ella, but not because of their betrothal. She is in grave danger from the very people who hid her away. His plan is to show her the truth and help her to safety.
Nothing goes as planned. When Trevor finds her, it’s to discover she’s fallen in love with a peasant. Now he has two goals: help her regain her throne… and show her that she belongs with him.

I was in my room, lost in my own worries, when the world as I knew it was torn to shreds.
Life isn’t a fairytale. Sometimes you have to fight for happily ever after. And sometimes you just have to let go.
It was a simple offer.
I invited Isla to rent a room in my five thousand square foot home. Plenty of rooms and plenty of space. But the second she moved in, I knew I was in trouble. I could handle wanting her when there was distance between us, but once we started to play house, all my pent up desire started knocking down walls.
That was my first mistake of many.
The private investigator I hired to track down my ex found her not far from where I live. I should have locked my past behind me, but something urged me to find her. I’m glad I did. But our union left me with a situation to be reckoned with.
When a new fire is lit and old flames rekindle, one will have to burn out.
The decisions I’ll have to make won’t be easy.
No matter what I choose, my heart will break.

Join me as I congratulate Pauline Creeden on her newest release, SALT!
Her kind treats her as less-than-human, but she’s always been so much more.
Mermaid life has never been easy for Verona. Her scars give evidence of her abuse. When her day of reckoning arrives, she is determined to endure exile. According to her father’s experience, exile is better than becoming a land-walker and risking her life among the humans.
However, when she saves the life of a drowning human boy, she inadvertently sets off a chain of events which force her to choose a path: stay with the humans she has become attached to or return home to a life of scorn. A savage hunter draws closer, threatening even the humans. Her only hope is to keep everyone safe until the next full moon, but those around her devise their own plans.

In simple language, Pauline Creeden creates worlds that are both familiar and strange, often pulling the veil between dimensions. She becomes the main character in each of her stories, and because she has ADD, she will get bored if she pretends to be one person for too long. Pauline is a horse trainer from Virginia, but writing is her therapy.

Every once in a while, I like to feature books I think you might be interested in! This YA dystopian book by Mary Ting caught my eye! Here are all the details...
The world has changed.
Scientists warned it would happen.
Meteors devastated the Earth. World Governments developed plans to help surviving citizens. The United States disbanded and salvageable land was divided into four quadrants—North, South, East, and West—governed by The Remnant Council.
Struggling to survive, seventeen-year-old Ava ends up in juvenile detention, until she is selected for a new life—with a catch. She must be injected with an experimental serum. The results will be life changing. The serum will make her better. To receive the serum Ava agrees to join a program controlled by ISAN, the International Sensory Assassin Network.
While on a training mission, she is abducted by a rebel group led by Rhett and told that not only does she have a history with him, but her entire past is a lie perpetuated by ISAN to ensure her compliance. Unsure of who to trust, Ava must decide if her strangely familiar and handsome captor is her enemy or her savior—and time is running out.

Amanda: Hi, I’m Amanda from the new adult romance, Is This Me?
Alena: And hi, I’m Alena from the YA paranormal fantasy, Kingdom of Embers.
Amanda: Weird, our names both begin with A.
Alena: I know, but we need to stick to the subject. My #5 is, don’t ignore all your old friends, you may need them.
Amanda: So true, just because there’s new fun people in your life, your old friends are still there for you. So, yeah, I’ll just go with your #5. My #4, don’t lie to your best friend.
Alena: Oh my gosh, I was going to say don’t lie to your vampire mother, or your witch trainer, or vampire pseudo-grandmother, for that matter.
Amanda: You have those? I could’ve used a vampire. Which brings me to #3. Don’t try to be someone you’re not. I said I could play volleyball. So wrong, ended up almost dead.
Alena: What? Are you kidding? I’m a vampire, well, half vampire. That’s horrible. I would have definitely done you a solid and healed you right up. Which leads me to #2, don’t get your new best friend/cute sort of boyfriend killed by an evil witch-vampire hybrid.
Amanda: You’re half vampire? Do those really exist?
Alena: Wake up, it’s the twenty-first century. But no, I’ll make you forget this interview ever happened as soon as we’re done.
Amanda: Oh, cool, I think, well, my #1 tip for back to school is this: don’t develop a crush on the hottest person you see and then go out with their best friend, always a bad choice.
Alena: Yeah girl, I could have seen that one coming!
Amanda: Well, I think we’re done.
Alena: Yep, that’s it! Great to meet you, Amanda. (Alena grabs Amanda's hands and looks into her eyes. "You will not remember me or this interview.")
Amanda: Wait… who are you?

The other night my hubby and I were sitting at the table playing dominoes. It's kind of geeky but it's our thing to play a game together in the evening. We sit and talk and play dominoes, Scrabble, or trivia. But, I'm digressing. He started reading my daughter's driving school information while we were playing. I was annoyed he wasn't paying attention to me. But, I let it slide figuring everyone was allowed some personal choice, and it was one night, it wasn't like it happens every time. Then, BAM!, in my inbox the next day is an email about the 5 love languages created by Dr. Gary Chapman. I thought, this is kind of cool, so I took the quiz. It turns out, I value quality time with a person over all other ways a person could show they love me.
Here's what Dr. Chapman has proposed. We all seek confirmation that we are loved, but we value different types of confirmation. He has put these in five categories he calls the 5 love languages.
1. Word of Affirmation - you like hearing the person tell you how they feel!
2. Acts of Service - you value tasks another person does for you!
3. Receiving gifts - it's not about materialism, but it's your cue that the person is thinking of you.
4. Quality time - when that person is spending time with you, just one on one, no distractions.
5. Physical touch - Hugs, kisses, and being held are important to you.
Dr. Chapman's test ranks the importance of each language once you've answered a series of ten questions. Once you complete the test you receive an email explaining more about each love language and your score in each category. Quality time was most important to me, followed by physical touch, words of affirmation, and acts of service. Receiving gifts was last on the list with only a score of 1.
It seems like this can be a cool thing to know about a significant other, child, family member, or bestie! For the most part, I'm guessing we pick up on cues without really realizing it, but if we've missed something, then maybe we could improve our relationships.
Take the quiz and see what you think! It's only 10 questions long! Here's the link or click the button below! http://www.5lovelanguages.com/
Wishing you the best,
So I was wondering why college was so awesome and then I thought, duh!
10. Everyone is there to meet new people and make new friends
9. Free activities on campus
8. Huge dating pool
7. Wearing leggings all the time
6. Being independent without adult responsibilities
5. There's always a fun party to go to
4. Pulling an all-nighter is no big deal
3. Napping is a daily activity
2. Living with your best friends
1. Always surrounded by people your own age
So, if you're in college, enjoy! If you're headed that way, remember to take advantage! If you've already been there, take a minute, think about all the friends you made and the good times you had, and appreciate that you never have to take another final!
Confession: I'm inspired by the Her Campus organization and their weekly emails. I love their content on all things college and entertainment! Check them out at http://www.hercampus.com/!
All the best,
