Audiobook Month 2023 – I Love Audiobooks
It’s audiobook month 2023 and I have to say, I love audiobooks. Audiobooks, in my opinion, are one of the best creations since sliced bread. In fact, I’ve researched this topic to make sure my facts are straight. The date the first commercial sliced bread was sold is reported to be July 7, in 1928, when a bakery in Chillicothe, Mo., first offered pre-cut bread using Otto Frederick Rohwedder’s invention, the automatic bread-slicing machine. Audiobooks, or stories read and transmitted via an electronic device, first hit the air waves in 1922. The first news broadcast is reported to have aired August 31, 1920 via radio and the first regular entertainment programs began airing in 1922, according to https://www.sparkmuseum.org/the-golden-age-of-radio/. Which means audiobook productions predated sliced bread. But it’s a saying, right?
And now you know where the cut-off date for ‘best things since sliced bread” actually is. Anything after July 7, 1928 is fair game. So you’ve already learned two things in this blog post. But I’ve digressed from my original topic. I love audiobooks. I listen to them when I am cooking, cleaning, driving, running, and walking. Audiobooks are a great distraction from mundane chores and entertainment while exercising.
It took me a while to find just the right narrator from my first audiobooks, but since then I’ve been full steam ahead with audiobook production. And this month I’m highlighting all my audiobooks for audiobook month.
Most of my audiobooks are on sale this month so it’s a great time to jump into these series
