This week’s fantasy books spotlight is Tia Silverthorne Bach’s Chasing Memories, the first book in the complete Tala Prophecy Series.

From the back cover

There isn’t another way; not now. The others are coming. I can’t let them have you…

Seventeen-year-old Reagan has a problem: She can’t remember what happened the night her brother was taken. Now, the dreams haunting her from the incident are becoming more intense by the day. All the while, the lines between what’s real and what’s a product of her paranormal-obsessed mind are becoming blurred.

Is she losing her mind or has she just stepped into a world she thought only existed in books?

Caught in a web of worried parents, competing boys, Wiccan relatives, protective amulets, and psychiatrist babble, Reagan must determine the truth before it’s too late.

My take… spoiler, I loved it!

I read this book back in 2015 when it first released. Ms. Bach’s writing is timeless. She’s completed the series, there’s even a prequel novella, Chasing Memories, and already has the next generation cued up in Enchanted Souls.

More about Chasing Memories

Living in Colorado and having visited Yellowstone Park, the opening scenes of this book still haunt me. I loved immediately though that the characters were into all my favorite fantasy series like Twilight and TVD. The main character, Reagan, and her brother are attacked in Yellowstone Park on a camping trip and all she can remember is eerie golden eyes. Her brother, Sam, is taken and there’s a strange nurse at the hospital. Her dog is suddenly hostile towards her and her grandmother seems to have magical healing abilities. She has dreams about the golden eyed beast asking her to join them. Nothing is the same anymore and Reagan just can’t connect until she meets a new boy at school, Rafe. She feels an immediate draw towards him, but he’s secretive and sometimes mean. Still she ignores all the bells in her head and a trip to his family’s cabin ends badly.

Can she uncover all the mysteries surrounding the attack, her grandmother, Rafe?

I loved the ending of this book. The cover may give you some hints as to Reagan’s mystery. Bach has a great style and weaved the story line well leading to the exciting ending.

You can read Chasing Memories for $0.99 in ebook form on Amazon. Or add it to your TBR list on Goodreads here.

Like YA paranormal books with strong female leads? You might also like my Kingdom Journals series beginning with Alena’s story, Kingdom of Embers. You can find it on Amazon for $0.99 here or in other formats including audiobook here.

Happy reading!
