Top 10 Romantic Date Ideas

These are my Top 10 Romantic Date Ideas. Looking for romantic date ideas? Sometimes you want to create the special experience for your significant other and you’re stumped for ideas. I’ve created a list of romantic date ideas to get your creative mind going!

  1. Grab a coffee and take a morning stroll in a park or along a river walk.
  2. Enjoy a concert, laser or fireworks show outside.
  3. Take a ferry ride.
  4. Go bowling, to a paintball arena, to an escape room – Nothing’s wrong with a little competition.
  5. Plan a date at a park or garden – Getting outdoors and enjoying the color and beauty of nature can be relaxing and inspiring so it creates the perfect backdrop for a romantic time. Pack a picnic, perhaps create a special playlist, and enjoy the great outdoors. Better yet, surprise your SO with a lunch date in a park or breakfast at sunrise.
  6. Take a hike to a waterfall – Being out in nature with only the wind, birds, and sounds of your footsteps can feel very freeing. And it’s always nice to have an amazing scene as the reward. Search for local gems in your area like Ruby Falls in Tennessee or Cumberland Falls in Kentucky where you can see a moonbow around the full moon. Other great falls are Arethusa Falls in New Hampshire, Amicalola Falls in Georgia, Hemmed-In-Hollow of Arkansas, Tahquamenon Falls, MI, Kootenai Falls, MT, Havasu Falls, Arizona, Multnomah Falls. If you’re in Great Britain you might check out these 10 Best Waterfalls to visit in the UK.
  7. Try a new activity – Plan an activity that is new to both of you. Sign up for a cooking class, boating lesson, climbing session, or yoga class. Try rolling blading or skating in a park. Rent a paddle board, kayak, or tubes for some time on the water. Take an art class. Doing something new together can be a fun bonding experience and way to learn more about each other’s strengths.
  8. Volunteer – Sign up to volunteer for an organization or group that you both care about. Deliver meals to shut-ins, serve at a soup kitchen, spend some time at an animal shelter, help build a house with Habitat for Humanity, or participate in a park clean up day. Helping others and achieving something together can make for some wonderful bonding moments.
  9. Plan the perfect romantic candlelight dinner in your house or backyard – Romance doesn’t have to be expensive. It’s all about the thought that goes into it.
  10. Plan a date in the spot you met – Nostalgia is always a winner when it comes to a romantic event. Even if your first meeting was less than perfect there can be some great bonding and perhaps some laughs remembering the time your first meetup.

Where did you meet your SO? For me it was in a chemistry lab. I was elbow deep in a soapy sink of glassware wearing safety glasses, green rubber gloves, and a lab coat. I looked up and there he was looking all rugged and handsome. I am sure my face turned a million shades of red realizing that I must look like someone out of a mad science movie.

My most recent could-be love interests from As Close to Perfect met at a Chinese takeout place. They both ordered the same thing and he let her take his meal when it came up first.

  1. Hello. I live in FL. We love a sunset cruise- even when we travel. Sunset cruise on the local river or bay. Another one fun date may not romanic to some . But you get history of the city and walk around the town holding hands.
I met my husband when I was waiting for the person the person to come and unload the cold salads from the very cold truck for the church’s 4th of July picnic (I was worked for and attended the church). I was organizing the picnic for the day. The person and his crew were late. This guy showed up and my greeting was something like “Why are you standing around grab the potato salad and move it to to the serving table.” Later I found out, he was not my volunteer.
