Fae Fantasy with Brea Viragh

Fae Fantasy with Brea Viragh

For my Finding the Magic blog interview series I’m talking fae fantasy with Brea Viragh today. As you know fae fantasy is a not so recent obsession of mine since I dove into the world of the fae with my free newsletter bonus story, Titania Rises, and the full length novel that followed, To be a Fae Queen. So when I heard about Brea’s book Faerie Marked, I jumped at the chance to learn more.

About Author Brea Viragh

  • How many books have you published?
    • Between my name and pen name- 51
  • Why do you write?
    • Because I can’t imagine doing anything else! Writing is my passion and my career.
  • Why do you write in your specific genre?
    • I’ve always loved reading paranormal romance so that was where I started. And I grew up in a small town, so small town contemporary feels real to me.
  • Why did you start writing? Was there a specific experience that spurred you to write?
    • I had just finished defending my masters thesis when I moved home, not wanting to work in that field anymore. I had to take a hard look at my life and see what I wanted to do. What could I make work for me? I’ve been writing since the third grade so it felt like a natural progression.
  • What do you love most about writing and being an author?
    • I love the freedom. The excitement of each project being something entirely new and different.

  • Tell me about your books and series.
    • I write across genres so there is always something so pleasing about starting a new series. My Fae Academy for Halfling series is one of my favorites; new adult, academy, dark paranormal fantasy, with wolf shifters and fae and forbidden romance. Slow burn, too, so I get to see the way the characters not only grow but their romance unfolds.
  • Who is your favorite character in one of your books?
    • My favorite character actually comes from my small-town contemporary book, set in a shared world. Spring Astin works for a summer camp but she also loves ghosts and haunted houses. She’s sunny, bubbly, smart, sarcastic, and driven.
  • What inspired you to write?
    • I had a difficult time with my second-grade teacher. Once I hit third grade, I needed help loving school again. My teacher sat me down in front of a computer and told me to just type whatever I wanted. It was as though she knew what I needed before I did. I wrote so many silly little short stories, about anything and everything.
  • How do you write? Plot out or wing it?
    • I myself am terrible at plotting, so I pants everything. It’s not always the easiest route, though, so often I’ll pay to have books plotted.
  • Who are your favorite authors? What genres do you read?
    • I love PC Cast, Nora Roberts, Sarah J Maas…there are so many amazing authors out there. Those are the three I’ll pretty much order whatever they put out. I read romance, fantasy, and gothic horror. Weird, I know!
    • (psst… this lady could be my soul twin!)
  • What do you want readers to experience or take away from your books?
    • I want people to know that even when times are tough to never give up on their dreams, or love. That being your weird and wonderful selves, that being unique, is a gift and an asset rather than a weakness. That there is always hope.
    • (I love this! It’s all about your magic! Everyone has it! Sometimes its just harder to discover!)
  • Do you have/make writing goals.
    • Oh I have a huge writing bucket list haha and every year I try to push for bigger and bigger. Nothing unrealistic, just growth.
  • What else do you want readers to know about you? What questions do you want me to ask?
    • Maybe that I’m habitually single but I never give up on love. I have a quirky, gross sense of humor and I put pieces of myself in everything that I do.
