February Blog Hop: Edgy or Safe

Edgy or Safe? Who to Choose?

Welcome to the February Blog Hop where love is in the air! I’ve had a love-hate relationship with February the 14th for as long as I can remember. But one thing that I’ve never had a hate relationship with was books. They’ve been the one constant in my life. And while I like to read in multiple genres the one thing that I always love in a book is a great love story. Whether it’s a paranormal, fantasy, or dystopian read, I always like at least one romance thread in the book. I also enjoy a good, straight up, sweep me off my feet romance.

My question today is do you have a type? Do you always choose the edgy, not sure they’re completely safe character for a love match for the protagonist (or for yourself?) or the let’s keep things simple and choose the safer, maybe they’re a bit more solid route?

Read through the characters from my Kingdom Journals series and their personality types below and decide which would be your pick for my characters (or for you) and let me know in the comments at the end. Don’t miss the fun quiz below that helps you learn your type!

Theron… check him out in the black above. Theron is confident and sure, and maybe a little bit cocky. He loves an adventure and takes Alena on a magical outing in Kingdom of Embers. You see Alena isn’t allowed to use her vampire skills in public, but Theron is all about breaking the rules and living life to the fullest. Did I mention Theron’s a vampire-witch hybrid, like Alena?

Hunter… check him out in the red sweatshirt above. Hunter is tried and true, a good friend and son. He would never do anything to jeopardize the people he cares about. And he’s not afraid to protect them either. Hunter is honest and always want to know the truth, no matter how hard it may be to hear. In Kingdom of Embers, he and Alena don’t have a lot of time together but he finds a secluded park perfect for their lunch meetups. Did I mention that Hunter may be a witch and has no clue that witches and vampires exist?

Camille… she’s the blonde above. She has a huge heart and will do anything to make sure the people she cares about are safe, even agreeing to travel to a remote castle with a not one but two potentially evil warlocks to find her father in Kingdom of Darkness, even though she has no clue how to use her magic yet. She has tons of empathy and can’t stand to see others in pain. She’s also calm and rational in the midst of crisis.

Alena… she’s the girl with the reddish hair above. It turns redder when she’s been drinking human blood. She’s a vampire-witch hybrid who’s been sheltered all her life but learns rogue vampires do things like drink human blood, something she’s not afraid to try herself in Kingdom of Embers. As a half vampire-half witch character she’s also hot-headed, impulsive, and emotional. And she will do anything to learn the truth about her heritage even if it means breaking all her mother’s rules. Did I mention her mother is the Chancellor of the Vampire Council?

So tell me… which Kingdom Journals character is your favorite? Leave your answer in the comments. Who would you put a protagonist with? Or who would be your perfect date? Would you rather walk on the wild side or stick to the known?
