Healing from Grief

Healing from Grief

Healing from grief may be one of the most personal journeys we embark on in life. At least that is my perception of the grieving process. Everyone’s story, time line, process, and feelings seem to be different. But like most things, what I am finding is that, like most things, reading stories of others who have walked similar paths helps me heal and shows me there is hope for feeling whole again.

This book came into my life in a poignant year for me. Although my loss didn’t share a lot of similarities with that in the book, I still took away some great lessons and a sense of hope. The topic of grief and emotions about losing someone close to you has to be one of the hardest things to talk about. And I give big kudos to Sheila for sharing her story. After suddenly losing someone very close this year, I had so many emotions that they were very hard to process. This book helped me feel not so alone in my grief. It showed me how to keep the person alive in my daily life. And yes, it perhaps exemplified maybe some cautionary tales. But mostly it showed me that grief is a process, a hard process, but if you keep talking, and keep reaching out, there is healing.
